Our final home game of the season and after several delays due to weather we finally managed to agree a date that both Boco and ourselves were free, bank holiday Monday. The pitch was in good condition considering the amount of standing water on them only several days earlier.
The game started at a brisk pace with Boco seeing the majority of the ball but we defended and closed down well. Boco opened the scoring on 10mins with a well taken goal giving Josh no chance. 0v1. They soon doubled their advantage with another good goal following good build up play although we could do nothing with the final delivery itself, we were a little slow in seeing the danger and didn’t close down as well has we had. 0v2. We started to get a little more possession ourselves and with 10mins of the half remaining Dane scored what has now become his trade mark goal. Picking the ball up on half way he drove forward to within 25 yrds and hit a stunning shot into the roof of the net giving the keeper no chance 1v2. We battled well for the remainder of the half but unable to capitalize on our possession. We defended well throughout the half with Josh not having to make any telling saves and could do nothing about the goals. HT 1v2
Into the second half with renewed belief and again it was a game played mainly across midfield but Boco soon scored another well worked goal, this time giving Kamil no chance. 1v3. We were still pressing looking to get something out of the game when, as in recent games we gifted the opposition with a goal. A defensive mix left Mat and Kamil both watching as the Boco forward took advantage of the mix up to tap into an empty net. 1v4. This knocked us back a bit but still continued to battle to keep the scoreline a little respectable. Into the last minute and the forward scored a brilliantly taken goal. Controlling, turning and shooting in one movement just inside the area sending the ball into the top corner giving Kamil no chance. 1v5. Just enough time to take the restart but no more. FT 1v5
A disappointing scoreline but no shame in losing to a very good team that has won everything this season. That’s the bar boys. That’s what we should be aiming for next season.
Well played to both teams for making it an enjoyable game for all to watch.
