Firstly a big well done to all the boys in Sunday 3 – 0 win over Thornbury Town. It was a great effort by everyone. I hope you enjoyed the game as much as me and Marcus.
Everyone was on time and this, along with good preparation and our recent fitness drive with all the boys seems to be paying dividends. We were really pleased. I know we have some difficult games ahead but if the boys can put in the commitment I am sure we can pick up some more valuable points until the end of the season.
Now we are mid-way through the season we are going to sit down this week and hopefully do all the boys’ assessments which we will let all the parents have. This is designed to see the strengths and weaknesses the boys have individually and pin point them so we can develop the skills required and you as parents can help to work with us.
Me and Marcus will be taking our level 1 coaching course at the GFA Headquarters in June and hopefully will improve our coaching methods and up to date skills which in turn will benefit the boys. The Club has paid a contribution towards this and we have put the rest from our own money.
This week Marcus will be purchasing 21 training balls from our healthy social account! A new ideal is that each training ball will be marked with the name of one of the boys and during training at YOSC or at the summer training at the Ridings each boys will be responsible for collecting and returning his ball to the bag at the end of the session. If a ball is lost it will be charged to you. If it is damaged or punctured will replace it for you, I hope this gives the boys a bit more responsibility for looking after the equipment.
As you may be aware, the work load on me and Marcus on training and match days and the amount of work behind the scenes with meetings and commitments we have asked that Chris Taylor to assist us on training and match days. I have noticed that the successful clubs we have played this season have three or four club workers to help out and this will enable us to concentrate on the important job in hand, I hope you can give Chris your support as you have me and Marcus.
We are going to start using our small training goals at YOSC on Friday to try and improve our shooting pratice. Could any of the parents help assemble these whilst we set the boys on their fitness training at the beginning of the session? This would be much appreciated.
Finally can you please ensure all outstanding subs are in this weekend please, as we have a monthly payment to the club to make.
This would be appreciated.
Don’t forget any questions or queries you may have concerning any aspect of the boys football please do not hesitate to contact me or Marcus.
See you at the near post
Steve
